The first step and last step in troubleshooting is run " view storage facility state"

DDM = failed deffered state 10. means your good due to spares.
state 9 disk is failed, prioritize RAID protection compromised.

Quiesced = shut down
Fenced = that component fenced off from the rest of sub system. Quarantined

2 ways to replace a part. Open manage serviceable events or take note of location code and exchange parts.

ESS01 and ESS11 are one LPAR per CEC, they are mirrored LPARs

Reboot HMC if needed, fixes a lot of coded bugs.

If replacing a sys board, set pw to admin2107
Steps to bring down LPAR:
1. quiesce
2. shutdown
3. activate
4. to resume clustering, resume

MAPS = action plans
If FRU exchange passes know you have a good part, if it doesn't know you have a bad part.
Batteries only care about batteries within the Frame. Must be within 6 month charge date of each other.
Replace all battery sets within a Frame at the same time. BSMs = battery set module.

Exchange parts to replace the BSM set that is failed or not, have to replace all the sets within the Frame. System can operate fine even with all the batteries fenced.
