EMC VNXe Primer:
- What is EMC VNXe?
- Block/Unified storage array with FC and iSCSI host connectivity. Dual controller configurations are active/passive
- What are the VNXe models?
- VNXe1 (first generation): 3100, 3150, 3300 (all single or dual controller)
- VNXe2 (second generation): 1600 (block only), 3200 (unified)
- What Operating System runs on VNXe?
- OE (Operating Environment) / MCx
- Management GUI is called Unisphere
- What components make up a VNXe?
- DPE (Disk Processor Enclosure) - consists of 2 Storage Processors (SPs) which are the controllers for the array, and the first set of storage drives.
- Additional DAE (Disk Array Enclosure) – expansion shelf containing 12 or 25 disks
- What are the logs called for VNXe?

- Is there a tool I can use to parse or analyze the logs?

- What files should I look at in the logs?
- TRiiAGE_Analysis.html or TRiiAGE_Analysis.txt (they contain the same info in different formats) – summary of array status, hardware, errors, etc.
- TRiiAGE_SPlogs.txt – combined output of the event logs from both SPs.
- How do I connect to the system?
- Serial port – usually to active controller, identified by yellow wrench. Requires mini-DB9 serial cable (same as for VNX console port).
- Settings: 9600/8/N/1/None
- Default login is service/service (customer may have changed password).
