- Losing too many key components: multiple DAs, power supplies, SPSs
- Any condition that would not guarantee a safe flush of CACHE in a power down event
- Vault can be forced, can also be triggered by offlining too many directors
- Batteries being drained
A vault is simply protection of CACHE / data
Writes come in a sequential fashion and that's how the data is managed by the symmetrix
