Replace SSDs

Replacing Failed SSD Drives:

  1. Identify and Replace Failed SSDs

    1. Type show-ssds to see the status of the drives

    1. record the index and brick numbers of the failed drive

  2. Issue the remove-ssd ssd-id=\

1. Physically replace the failed ssd

  1. Type show-ssds to show uninitialized ssd drives

1. NOTE: record the complete wwn and index number of the new drive

  1. If drive does not show up in show-ssds, run show-slots and verify the status of your drive.
  2. Type add-ssd brick-id=brickid ssd-uid="wwnid"

1. If the disk was previously used in another XtremIO you may get an error about foreign_xtremapp_ssd. If you do add the following to the end of the add-ssd command is-foreign-xtremapp-ssd

1. Type assign-ssd dpg-id=id# ssd-id=id#

Examples

remove-ssd ssd-id=34

add-ssd brick-id=2 ssd-uid="wwn-0x5000cca02b241ff8"

assign-ssd dpg-id=2 ssd-id=51

  • Type show-ssds to see the status of the drives
  • Replace the failed ssd
  • Issue the replace-ssd ssd-id=\
  • Type show-ssds to verify replacement
